STACKED FURNITURE

Continuing along the same theme as The Serendipitous Swing, this installation was the final piece produced during my month-long residency at the Vermont Studio Center.

With a focus on the duality of water, specifically its destructive nature, the effects of flooding shifted to occupy a more central position within my considerations of the theme, particularly after learning of the 1927 flood in Vermont. Guyana's own susceptibility to flooding encouraged the contemplation of how we prepare for those catastrophes.

Stacked precariously in a corner, the pile of remaining furniture from my studio was meant to reference the staged appearance that objects strewn about in the wake of floods sometimes take on.
